Prof. Dr. Martin Schmidt
Person
Martin Schmidt, born in 1983, studied mathematics with a major in computer science and received his doctorate in 2013 in the field of algorithmic optimization at Leibniz Universität Hannover. From 2014 to 2018 he was junior professor for the optimization of energy systems at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Energy Campus Nürnberg.
Since 2019 he is Professor for Nonlinear Optimization at the University of Trier and Fellow of the Energy Campus Nürnberg. His fields of work include mathematical modeling and optimization of energy systems with a focus on mixed-integer nonlinear and multilevel modeling of energy systems such as gas transport networks and energy markets as well as the development of new mathematical methods to solve these problems.
